Yellow Labs - swimming at bottom of tank
« on: November 30, 2013, 07:06:11 PM »
Hello everyone, can you please take a look at these yellow labs for me, they don't seem ok. Well 2 are actually fine. It's just one of them is always near bottom of tank and looking a bit tubby. Please give me your opinions. They were promised to be F1 and parents shown to me looked good. However who knows whether they were the actual parents. Please diagnose... And give opinions on quality, I've only had them 3 or 4 days.

It could be just water parameters mate, some fish need time to adjust to differing water parameters ( But then again it might not ) I'd like another opinion mate...

Colours I blame my lighting to be fair. I don't have great lighting they look ok in natural lighting. I'm worried about one of their bellies, could it be bloat? We have to watch who we buy fish off! My water last I checked was great quality. 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 5ppm nitrate and 8.2 PH however I do think maybe they were not in same water.....

The wilds the person bought were apparently from Mikes Rifts.... Should I give them more time to adjust??? Is 4 days too less am I being impatient? Maybe because Saddlers fish I had are doing fantastic and I expected the same ;(

Give them more time yellow fish like labs and saulosi
can take awhile to come on in colour.
If there F1 so the person has wilds well ask what locale
and were did they come from?
There has been some labs come in so maybe.
Is bloated fish eating? Any white thin poo?

Fish are eating well, all of them. I tried the new era grazer however they weren't interested. They're just having new era rift lake green at the moment. I am going to get some brine shrimp with garlic as a once a week treat and some new era algae flakes for a midday snack.

I will look out for the thin poo. But the fish are all 1inch to 2 inch so all the poo is pretty much thin.

The fish are apparently from mikes rifts.

PM me who you got them off I see.
Mike has had wild labs in as colin another supplier of wild.

When I seem wild labs I must admit I was not over pleased
with them some can be paler plus smaller than big bright yellow tank
breds.
Deans above are classic examples of good colourful tank bred
yellow labs.

I say give them time

This is by no means a go at Brucers  .

Ive had contact with Mike and this Kim 100% did not buy wild labs from him.
Its known around forums that Kim sells all her stock as F1 even hybrid peacocks? she has had run ins
with other suppliers of Rifts and runs a facebook group.
These type of suppliers give false info on there stock to big themselves up :13

No it was someone else, bought 5 labs online plus 5 ps.williamsi 'north blue lips' 3 of each died within a week even though I drip acclimated them over an hour and they were the first stock into my cycled tank. One blue lips was crippled with a badly crooked spine and all the labs had pale bellies...I researched it and found out that there is a white belly morph but I was kidding myself...long story short I was left with 2 blue lips I gave to a mate that didnt last much more than an extra week or so (6 weeks from initial purchase)and the 2 remaining labs iv just moved on to a first timer (my boss) one had quite dark barring and the other had a highly visible black lateral line and had a white stomach...thats why I was onto you the other week for some of that quality fry you're going to have an abundance of soon 😉
